API Terms of Service

This page outlines how your Torn API key is used when you register on this website. We are committed to transparency and ensuring you understand what data we access and why.

Standard Member (Public API Access)

A "Public" level API key is the minimum requirement for all members of the Nuclear Faction Family.

  • Initial Registration: To verify you are a member of the Nuclear Faction Family.
  • Periodic Checks (1-2 times/24hrs): To ensure your key is still valid and to check for changes in faction API access permissions.
  • Optional Features (Opt-in): For public API calls such as checking who has revives enabled for revive contracts and fetching stock prices. Your key may be used from a pool for various public data calls, with usage tracked to prevent overuse. Turning this on is required to use the Stock Tracker, since its prices are fetched for everyone this way.

Faction Leadership (Limited API Access)

If your API key has "Limited" access and if it has faction API access, it will be used for additional purposes to gather faction-level data. This is typically required for leadership or other specific roles within the faction.

Investment Tracking (Optional Custom or Full Key)

The Stock Tracker can read your stock holdings and sales from Torn automatically. This needs a second, separate key that you choose to give it: a Custom key with only stocks and log access (preferred), or a Full key if you can't make a Custom one. Reading your log needs that level of access, which is why it isn't done with the key you signed up with. It is entirely opt-in: without it you can enter your investments by hand.

Your lots and sales (stock, shares, prices, times, fees) and benefit progress. These are kept even if your account is removed, so a returning member and their faction keep the history. Nobody, except: faction investments you mark as faction money are visible, read-only, to your faction's committee and leaders. Site Super Admins can open it to fix problems you report.
  • Only this: reading your own stock holdings and the stock buy, sell, split and merge entries of your log. No other part of your log is requested.
  • How often: every 15 minutes (2 calls), plus when you press Refresh now (at most once a minute).
  • All other API usage on the site keeps using your normal key.
 Stored encrypted and separately from your normal key. Never shared or added to any pool. Deleted when you remove it, when Torn refuses it 3 times in a row, or when your account is purged. Custom (stocks + log) or Full

Your API key is stored securely and is only used for the purposes described above. We do not access any personal data beyond what is necessary for the functionality of this website.
